Looking for a unique outdoor location? A well kept Athens secret, The Tree Room is an amazing choice for a small wedding ceremony or event. Located in an old boiler room of a cotton warehouse, the venue is made up of exposed brick walls with a canopy of tree limbs as a ceiling. A modern terraced fountain holds koi fish down below, while higher up a balcony wraps the brick facade, offering a closer view to the stars. Well worth a visit, so check it out!

I’ve been a fan of Creature Comforts Brewery since I first found out about them- and not just for their craft beers! Located in a warehouse that formerly housed a Chevy Dealership followed by a Tire Company, the building underwent a remarkable transformation- without sacrificing any of it’s historic charm. The original tinted garage door windows claim the front of the building, while inside, huge brewing tanks line up like dominoes along a back wall. Within, a vaulted ceiling of interwoven wood and steel beams overlook two bar areas, each featuring backsplash walls of reclaimed wood, colorful chalkboard menus, and copper pendant lights. As an event space, Creature Comforts Brewery is a unique addition to the list of venues in, and around, Athens. It offers up a trendy, industrial atmosphere to the Athens wedding scene, including a host of great brews!
The pics above give a glimpse of a recent photo shoot I put together at the Brewery. Thanks to Sara Wise of Sara Wise Photography for sharing the top pic with me at the shoot (and showing me some great photo editing apps:) Stay posted for more to come!!
The Day Chapel, Athens, Georgia
I recently visited The Day Chapel at the State Botanical Gardens in Athens, Georgia and was excited to check out some of the spaces the Garden rents out for wedding ceremonies and receptions. My favorite building was definitely The Day Chapel, an amazingly detailed piece of architecture, done in the Arts and Crafts style. Nestled among the trees, it offers a private and beautiful spot for a wedding ceremony and/or reception.
The Botanical Gardens also offers other spaces for weddings. Among them The Terrace Room, where glass paneled French Doors open out onto a secluded brick courtyard and fountain and The Great Room. As its name implies, The Great Room is a grand space featuring a two-story glass walled conservatory complete with hanging indoor plants and set lighting for the dance floor! Overall, both The Day Chapel and the other Garden spaces make great spots for an Athens Wedding! I’ll definitely be heading back soon to enjoy more of the outdoor garden areas:)
