Chinoiserie (sheen·waa·zr·ee)- a style in art reflecting Chinese qualities or motifs (Thank You Merriam-Webster). Always a classic in interior design and, *sigh* my heart. It’s true, I am completely smitten with one of the fanciest of wallpapers- hand-painted murals of blossoms and branches on dyed silk.
You can get the real deal over at de Gournay, or check out Anthro’s Havenview Mural, where this look is gaining traction with the boho chic crowd (goodbye minimalism? hello chintz?) .
My interpretation? I’d start with stationery, adding a leafy branch and blossom pattern to make a stylish wedding invitation suite (design goal 2021). It goes without saying it would also make a fab backdrop for the band or bar – as long as you’re working with a blank slate venue (more on that subject soon!) or cohesive atmosphere.

For a more luxurious option, I’d have a custom linen made, hand-painted and embroidered on shantung silk, perfect for making a statement head table and a truly lovely keepsake.
